My younger grandson is just turning 2, and he really throws himself into the fun, shouting out the name of each animal and jumping in with the ‘Oh dear!!’ and ‘No eggs here’ at all the right times. It’s a brilliant story for reading aloud and getting the little ones involved: perfect for making lots of animal noises, facial expressions and gestures. It’s only when he reaches the henhouse that he remembers who lays eggs and gets two to take back for breakfast. He goes to all the different places where animals are kept - barn, sty, field, stable, kennel, hutch and pond - but keeps getting told ‘No eggs here’.
